I’ve tried Lord

how I tried

You’ve seen me

Get up

Time and again

From each blow

From each remark

From being ignored

From being forgotten

But o Lord, I am tired

as I wrestle with

Each negative thought

Impaling word

Inflicted action

My knees weaken

My soul aches

My heart becomes empty

I can give no more

and take no more

I give up,

I fold,

I can no longer stand.

On my knees

I’ll stay;

Hands folded

Eyes shut

I shall pray.

A friend told me about a meet and greet she had with fellow writers… when they found out that where she was working, these so-called “educators” made a snap-judgement about her and the students at the College. And no matter how much she’d correct them, they continued to be rude… I wonder if the (top) Universities that they work in or graduated from trained them to be ignorant…

How great in number are the little minded men.

Titus Maccius Plautus

The misconception that people have about the College and the students are alarming. I too had my fair-share of encounters with closed-minded people. At first I wanted to gently correct them, but later on, as I observed that they were determined to stick to whatever made up picture they had of the College and the community, I didn’t want to be so gentle anymore…

Prejudice is a great time saver. You can form opinions without having to get the facts.

E.B. White

It irritates me that a lot of these people don’t really have first hand accounts. All they have is hearsay. And if ever they were blessed with an opportunity to serve or study in this College, they would come in already expecting the worst… building it up in their heads and winding themselves up like a spring (coil), just waiting for one person (student, faculty or administrator) to prove them right so that they can exclaim “AHA! I KNEW IT! I WAS RIGHT!!!”

If you judge people, you have no time to love them.

Mother Teresa

What I think hurts more is that these awful, evil beliefs are coming from adults. Parents. Professionals. Educators. People who are supposed to, well, know better. People who should be broadening our horizons, not blocking the view. A true educator sees teaching not just as a buck-earner, but as a vocation. This is a service that should be given to all types of learners. A lot of teachers see their students as friends, at best, their own kids. Would you speak of your own child so cruelly and unfavorably? Would you be so selective? True, you wont always get the best of the bunch, but you’ll always have those gems that make your heart sing, or the kids that make you cry because in the end, they were the ones who needed you the most.

One good teacher in a lifetime may sometimes change a delinquent into a solid citizen.

Philip Wylie

I admit, it’s hard to be a teacher. Your day doesn’t end once the bell rings. You bring home with you not just the paper works, but the problems your students have – financial woes, learning issues, or emotional wounds. As their teacher you cheer your kids up for every accomplishment, sweat it out with them during the toughest times, shed a light when they’ve lost their way, and cry with them when they fail. Real teachers never give up on their kids. Real teachers don’t just choose who deserves to learn. Real teachers have a passion not just for teaching, but for learning. Real teachers are a positive influence.

Prejudice is the reason of fools.

Voltaire

Fact is, wherever you go, there will be sucky students, sucky employees, and sucky bosses. That’s because narrow-minded people already have it in their heads that something is sucky. With these sucky thoughts come a sucky reality. But here’s a little known secret… this will blow your mind… no one is perfect. See? Mind, blown.

Space

The space between us is real.
A bag in between,
a purse,
a pillow,
thick, suffocating, air…
As if skin touching was such an offense.
As if minds meeting were so taboo.
Always preoccupied with something else,
That being with me, loving me, becomes an after thought.
The space between us is real.
And it seems, I, am not.

Lying

Awake
I lie to you
Pretending
My world is
Perfect

Asleep
I lie with you
Dreaming
My world was
Better

Chasing After Loose Threads

Loose threads
Loose threads
Chasing after you

Empty hands
Grasping, failing

Wide eyes
Tearing

Losing loose threads
Losing (Lost) you

Tears in the Rain

Posted: January 27, 2011 in Uncategorized

I cried

salty

shapeless

ugly

tears in the rain

[Yes, I cried in vain, hoping against hope, to one day see you again]

The moment you find them,

[my salty, shapeless, ugly tears]

only then shall I stop missing you

[and only then shall I stop loving you]

I just drank a bottle of Minute Maid Pulpy. They say it’s got ‘no preservatives added’. Aw, c’mon…It’s bottled juice. Is that even possible? So I thought maybe I’d give this bottled up baby a whirl!

I didn’t believe it the first time I heard it’s got no preservatives added. So I read the ingredients (even the fine print) and everything checked out! It really has NO PRESERVATIVES ADDED! That means it doesn’t have ingredients that may turn out to be allergens, or worse…carcinogens! Whew! Now that’s healthy goodness that tastes so good, I just had to grab another (and another, and another!)

So okay, it’s got no preservatives added. That’s really good, right? Not just because it doesn’t have those icky, harmful ingredients, but it also means that Minute Maid’s natural pulpy goodness is a yummy and refreshing treat for you and your kids as well as an awesome and healthy alternative for any lifestyle!

So far anyone who still has a hard time believing that Minute Maid has got no preservatives added – meaning it’s THAT natural, it’s almost like it’s plucked straight from the tree, it’s just as Mother Nature wanted your orange juice to be, it’s got nothing but the good stuff yes, none of those potentially toxic stuff that can harm your brain, kidneys, heart; cause tumors aargh- the list of preservatives’ bad effects just go on!!!

Anyway, just to prove a point on just how good Minute Maid Pulpy is ’cause it’s got NO PRESERVATIVES ADDED, I’m gonna celebrate Minute Maid Pulpy Day each and every day and share the love with family, friends and colleagues at work with this Pulpy drink that they will definitely ooh-la-like!

Feels good to know about the real pulpy deal, right? C’mon show me a smile on the comment box, and you might win yourself a Really Pulpy Deal! (That’s a chance to win a Minute Maid gift pack simply by commenting. Sweet! C’mon you just might be picked as the lucky ‘commentor’!)

Love,

Vida

Let Minute Maid Pulpy turn your life around ;) Here’s to a healthier and happier 2011!
